Annual MLK Day March held in Downtown Clarksville | VIDEO

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville branch of the NAACP, in partnership with the National Pan-Hellenic Council, hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday. The event featured educational programs and a community march.

The educational sessions were held at Burt Elementary School. Activities were designed for both students and adults, with sessions focused on Dr. King’s legacy, civic engagement, and community involvement.

“This is a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, and we have educational sessions every year for our young students, we also have a panel discussion with community leaders for the adults,” said Nakeisha Williams, president of Sigma Gamma Rho.

The march began at noon. Participants gathered at Burt Elementary School and walked down College Street toward Public Square.

Clarksville Police officers assisted with traffic control along the route to help ensure the safety of marchers and drivers during the event.

The MLK Day celebration is held each year in Clarksville and is open to the public.
