HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Nu Kappa Omega chapter, held its 10th annual Belles and Beaus Scholarship Finale Ball on Saturday.
Twenty-one students from Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools and surrounding counties took part in the event at the James E. Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Storms on Saturday took out electricity for a while, but organizers powered through for a great evening.

“This is an opportunity to showcase the youth in something positive,” said AKA Inc. sorority member Tamika Terry. “And it gives them an opportunity to earn some scholarship money.”
Among those making presentations were Montgomery County Trustee Kimberly Wiggins, state Rep. Ronnie Glenn and Dr. Alexis Gatson.
“This is an amazing event because it gives back to the community,” sorority member Zandra Moten said. “Students are going all over the country with scholarships from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.”
Jeff Danault contributed to this report.
