Chamber Power Breakfast features Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their third annual Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Power Breakfast, along with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation.

Schools Director Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder talked about the theme of this year’s Power Breakfast which was Growing Together, and said we are definitely growing as a community and as a school system.

“When we talk about the theme of Growing Together, we talk about how this community continues to grow, our school system continues to grow and just the importance of working collaboratively to be the best school system in the state of Tennessee,” Luna-Vedder said.

Luna-Vedder added that it involves not just working with school system partners, but also community partners like industry, economic development and the Chamber. “We need everyone to make that happen, and we’re excited about growing together, both in size, but also in efficiently and effectiveness in the district,” Luna-Vedder said.

Speaking about growth, Norm Brumblay, chief operations officer for CMCSS, said the school system is currently at about 39,400 students and on average is growing by about 670 students each year.

Burmblay described the high growth area as north Clarksville. “The last time I did the numbers, almost two-thirds of all of the growth in the entire county was north of the Red River and the Cumberland River, and one year it was at 40% north of the 101st Airborne Division Parkway,” Brumblay said.

Guest speakers from CMCSS also included Chief of Staff Dr. Angela Huff, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Schanda Doughty, Chief Financial Officer Chris Reneau, Chief Technology Officer David Holman and Chief Communications Officer Anthony Johnson.
