The Red River Spartans are ready to drop the puck on their second season in Clarksville, and the community is invited to witness hockey history in the making. The United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) team will face off against the Cincinnati Cyclones in a thrilling two-game series on Sept. 19 and 20 at the F&M Bank Arena.

New chapter for Clarksville hockey

This year marks the second year the Red River Spartans have called Clarksville home, bringing professional-level hockey excitement to Middle Tennessee. The team’s arrival represents a significant milestone for the city’s sports landscape, offering fans the chance to experience the speed, skill, and intensity of USPHL competition right in their backyard.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Spartans to Clarksville,” said Tracy McMurtry, owner of the Red River Spartans. “This community has shown tremendous support for sports, and we believe hockey will find a passionate fan base here.”

Tomas Vokoun visit, pre-game fun

Adding to the excitement on Sept. 20, former Nashville Predators goaltender Tomas Vokoun will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. Vokoun played 15 seasons in the NHL, including time with the beloved Predators, will be available at a special tailgate event in the F&M Bank Arena Commons before the games.

Vokoun’s presence brings a touch of NHL star power to the Spartans’ weekend, offering fans a unique opportunity to meet a hockey legend who helped put Tennessee hockey on the map during his time in Nashville.

Family-friendly entertainment

With tickets ranging from just $15-20, the Red River Spartans games offer affordable family entertainment that’s hard to beat. The games will be played on the arena’s regulation ice surface, providing fans with an authentic hockey experience.

The F&M Bank Arena’s “big ice” setup for the Sept. 20 game ensures excellent sightlines throughout the facility, meaning every seat offers a great view of the high-speed action. From thunderous body checks to spectacular saves, fans will be close enough to feel the intensity of every play.

Community support welcomed

Team officials are encouraging the entire community to come out and show their support. Hockey has a unique ability to bring communities together, and the Spartans hope to become a source of civic pride for their new hometown.

“We want to be more than just a hockey team,” said McMurtry. “We want to be part of what makes Clarksville special, and that starts with building relationships with our fans and the broader community.”

Whether you’re a longtime hockey fan or curious newcomer to the sport, the Red River Spartans’ season opening weekend promises excitement, entertainment, and the chance to be part of Clarksville sports history.

Tickets are available now, and with affordable pricing and special events planned, this weekend represents the perfect opportunity to discover your new favorite team. Come out to F&M Bank Arena Sept. 19 and 20, and help welcome the Red River Spartans to Clarksville.
