Halloween fun guide: Trunk-or-treats, Fright on Franklin, haunted houses and more in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – If you’re looking for fun things to do this Halloween, we’ve got you covered. Here’s your guide to local Halloween fun, through Oct. 31. Events are free unless otherwise noted.

Oct. 12-28

‘Rocky Horror Show’ at Roxy

Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St.
When: 7 p.m. Oct. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 and 11:59 p.m. Oct. 28
Cost: $35 (adults)
Details: That sweet transvestite and his motley crew are back for the 11th year. Suggested for mature audiences only.

Oct. 13

Rotary Park Lantern Hike

Where: Rotary Park, 2308 Rotary Park Drive
When: Friday, Oct. 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Cost: Free, but registration required.
Details: The trail difficulty level is rated moderate, and each participant will carry a provided lantern through the woods. Children 5 and older are welcome with an adult supervisor. Register online for more information.

Oct. 13, 14

Historic Collinsville Lantern Tour

Where: Historic Collinsville, 4711 Weakley Road, Southside
When: 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14
Cost: $10 per adult, $5 per child ages 6-12, and ages 0-5 are free.
Details: Walk through the darkness and hear tales from Montgomery County’s past.

Oct. 14, 21, 28

Eldridge Farm Harvest Festival

Where: Eldridge Farm, 4575 St. Paul Road, Woodlawn
When: Noon-6 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 14, 21, 28
Cost: Free, with some ticketed events.
Details: Food, jack-o-lantern corn maze, hay rides, pumpkin patch, vendors and more.

Oct. 15

Halloween Market

Where: Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 8 Champions Way
When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15
Details: Shop all things strange, unusual and spooky from over 50 local vendors. This event is a family-friendly indoor event presented by Velvet Ghost Boutique.

Clarksville Gearheads Trunk or Treat

Where: Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 8 Champions Way
When: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15
Details: Clarksville Gearhead Car Club teaming up with Velvet Ghost Boutique to host this event during the Clarksville Halloween Market.

‘The Cabin in the Woods’ at Roxy

Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St.
When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15
Cost: $5
Details: Planters Bank Presents Film Series continues with classic Halloween films.

Oct. 19

Storytime & Craft: It’s Monster Season

Where: Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, 200 S. Second St.
When: Thursday, Oct. 19, 10:30 a.m.
Cost: Free with membership, or paid admission
Details: Friendly monsters with The Monsters’ Monster by Patrick McDonnell and The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone. Then they’ll create monsters using art supplies. Parents are expected to participate with and supervise their children.

Oct. 20-31

Unknown Haunted Yard Experience and Mini Monster Museum

Where: Unknown Origin FX, 312 Southern Drive
When: 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 20, 21, 27, 28, and 6-9 Oct. 31.
Cost: Free, but donations encouraged.
Details: First, enjoy a mini monster museum and workspace of Clarksville’s only special FX artist. Then step into the haunted yard. “All ages welcome, only you know what your family can handle.” Children 13 and under are to be accompanied by an adult.

Oct. 21

Historic Greenwood Cemetery Walking Tour

Where: 976 Greenwood Avenue
When: 10-11 a.m. Oct. 21
Cost: $20 ticket, $15 member ticket
Details: Take a spooky stroll through the winding paths of Greenwood to hear tales full of local history and intrigue. Tickets must be purchased in advance and space is limited.

Oct. 22

‘Clue’ at Roxy

Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St.
When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22
Cost: $5
Details: Planters Bank Presents Film Series continues with classic Halloween films.

Not So Scary Halloween Party

Where: The Goobs Small Business Warehouse, 260 Needmore Road

Details: Vendors, trick or treating, food trucks, a bounce house, and more.

Good Barbers Trunk-or-Treat

Where: Good Barbers, 3863 Trenton Road
When: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24

Oct. 25

Halloween History on the Rocks

Where: Upstairs at Strawberry Alley, 103 Strawberry Alley
When: 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25
Details: Join the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center for discussion of the Bell Witch and poisonous books, plus chat with contributing writers to the Second & Commerce magazine, and try your hand at some trivia.

Oct. 26

Spooky Stories Around the Campfire

Where: Rotary Park amphitheater, 2308 Rotary Park Drive
When: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26
Details: Spine-chilling storytelling and s’mores around the campfire. This is a family-friendly event, however, the stories are suited for those 4 and older, please use your best judgment. S’mores are on a first come first served basis, registration required.

Brookdale Trick-or-Treat

Where: Brookdale Clarksville Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care, 2183 Memorial Drive
When: Thursday, Oct 26, 4-6 p.m.

Oct. 27

Halloween Percussion Ensemble Concert

Where: Music/Mass Communications Building
When: Friday, Oct. 27. Two shows, at 6 and 8 p.m.
Cost: Tickets $5, go on sale Oct. 16
Details: APSU Department of Music presents its annual spooky music concert, with performers dressed to kill. Proceeds benefit the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen.

Oct. 28

Fright on Franklin

Where: Downtown Clarksville
When: 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
Details: Themed activities, costume contests and candy from vendors along the streets of downtown.

Fall Festival

Where: Rotary Park, 2308 Rotary Park Drive
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
Details: Trick-or-treating, Halloween crafts, pumpkin painting, food trucks and more fall fun, presented by Montgomery County.

Halloweentown Movie Night

Where: Downtown Commons, 215 Legion St.
When: 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
Details: Movie plus a spooky photobooth and food on-site.

Family Art Saturday: Spooky Spider Spree

Where: Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, 200 S. Second St.
When: Saturday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-noon, and 2-4 p.m.
Cost: Free with membership, or paid admission
Details: Using the technique of marble painting and pipe cleaners, kids will be able to craft their own spiders and spider webs. Parents are expected to participate with and supervise their children.

Riverview Cemetery Walking Tour

Where: Riverview Cemetery, 635 N. Spring St.
When: Saturday, Oct. 28, 10-11 a.m.
Cost: $20 ticket, $15 member ticket
Details: Learn about its history, dating to 1800, and the notable figures interred there. Tickets must be purchased in advance and space is limited.

First Pres. Halloween Hunt

Where: First Presbyterian Church, 213 Main St.
When: Saturday, Oct 28, 7-9 p.m.
Details: Explore the hidden nooks and crannies of our 19th-century building in the dark for a scavenger hunt. Dress up in costumes (no face coverings please) and bring the family.

Escape Room: A Library Haunt

Where: Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 501
When: Saturday, Oct 28, 6-8 p.m.
Cost: Free, but registration required.
Details: Library ghosts have created puzzles and riddles in hopes that new souls will join them in the stacks. Do you have what it takes to escape?

G.H.O.S.T.

Where: Austin Peay State University, 320 Drane St.
When: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29
Details: G.H.O.S.T., or “Greater Halloween Options for Safe Trick-or-Treating,” is sponsored by Student Government Association. APSU clubs and organizations, as well as groups from the community, dress up, hand out candy, and play games with children.

‘Hocus Pocus’ at Roxy

Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St.
When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29
Cost: $5
Details: Planters Bank Presents Film Series continues with classic Halloween films.

Spooktacular Halloween Party

Where: Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Suite 501
When: Sunday, Oct 29, 2-4 p.m.
Details: Dress up in your favorite costume and join us for a creepy crawly animal show, a costume parade and treats, with portraits of children in their Halloween costumes.

Oct. 31

Clarksville Speedway Trunk-or-Treat and Carnival

Where: Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds, 1600 Needmore Road.
When: 4-10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31
Cost: Free admission
Details: Over 100 trunks, a petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides, a haunted trail, mining for treasures event, 10 food trucks, 9 vendors, and bounce houses.

Hopewell Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat 

Where: Hopewell Baptist Church, 1450 Highway 13, Cunningham
When: Tuesday, Oct. 31, 5-8 p.m.
Details: Each trunk will have a Biblical theme with the corresponding Scripture written within the decorations. Plus games, face painting and balloon animals.

Trick-or-treating

Where: Neighborhoods near you.
When: Whenever you want, but preferably the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Details: Clarksville and Montgomery County don’t set days and times for trick-or-treating. So go have fun!
