Independence Day Celebration coming up at Liberty Park on July 3, but city parade canceled

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The City of Clarksville this week provided details about its annual Independence Day celebration, and it announced that the inaugural July Fourth Parade has been canceled.

“We regret to inform the community that the July 4th parade has been canceled due to a lack of participation,” said Ryan Sample in a Parks and Recreation news release. “The number of entrants registered needed to be higher in order for the parade to be successful. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we look forward to offering another Independence Day Parade opportunity in 2025.”

Independence Day celebration

The Independence Day celebration will be Wednesday, July 3, from 5-9:30 p.m. at Liberty Park. This family-friendly event includes live music, food trucks, and fireworks.

The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. and culminate with the fireworks display at 9 p.m. Attendees can enjoy lawn games, promotional item giveaways (hats and light-up wands while supplies last), face-painting, and inflatables for children.

Entertainment

Southern Avenue, a dynamic band from Memphis, Tennessee, will be headlining the event. Captivating audiences since their debut with Stax Records in 2017, their powerful blend of blues, soul, and gospel, coupled with high-energy performances, earned them a Grammy nomination and multiple Blues Music Award nods, including a 2024 nomination for “Band of the Year.”

The event will also include performances by local artists Ray Landrum and Cody Parson and the Heavy Change.

The Madison Street United Methodist Church Choir will perform the national anthem.

Parking and shuttle information will be available closer to the event.
