New city parking garage taking shape in downtown Clarksville | PHOTOS

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Construction on the City of Clarksville’s new downtown parking garage has progressed to new heights, with a towering crane erecting the upper edge of the eight-deck facility.
“Construction is progressing well,” Brandon Sather, city projects coordinator, said in a statement to Clarksville Now. “They have erected one bay of the garage and are currently working on the northwest stair/elevator tower.”
Construction is on track for the garage to open in late summer of this year, pending any weather delays, Sather said.
The garage at First and Commerce streets will provide additional parking for the F&M Bank Arena, a planned Clarksville Performing Arts Center, and the continuing, overall downtown growth, according to previous reports. The garage will include 587 parking spaces and 14 electric vehicle charging stations.
The new garage will be next to the existing Cumberland Plaza Parking Garage, which it will connect to at the Commerce and Second streets levels. A pedestrian bridge will extend from the Second Street level of the garage to 110 Franklin St., next to the Performing Arts Center.
