Special Olympics spring games celebrated at APSU Fortera Stadium

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Area 12 Special Olympics spring games were held at Fortera Stadium at Austin Peay State University on Friday.
Members of the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and APSU Campus Police participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run escorting the Special Olympics torch to the stadium.
Athletes from Richview Middle School, Clarksville High School, Stewart County Middle School and Progressive Directions Inc. (PDI), along with independent athletes, had the opportunity to compete in a 50-yard dash and a softball throw.
The games were emceed by 5 Star Media Group’s own Lee Erwin. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and County Mayor Wes Golden, along with Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Stackpole were all on hand to kick off the event.
