This weekend in Clarksville: ‘9 to 5,’ Vagina Monologues, Power of Words

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It’s cold out there, but there are some fun indoor things to do going on, including a Roxy performance, a movie showing and the return of Power of Words.
- Where: Trahern Theater, Austin Peay State University, 8th Street
- When: Monday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. (activities begin at 1:30 p.m.)
- Cost: Free admission (donations encouraged)
- Details: The Imagination Library of Montgomery County will celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and Dolly Parton’s birthday with a community screening of 9 to 5. Before the movie, families can enjoy coloring and writing birthday cards to Dolly Parton, along with books, cupcakes and a reading corner featuring favorite Imagination Library titles. The film is rated PG and recommended for children ages 8 and older. Parking on campus will be free.
- Where: Roxy Regional Theatre (temporary location), 114 Public Square
- When: Friday-Saturday, Jan. 16–17, 7 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 18, 2 p.m.
- Cost: Tickets $35 (adults)
- Details: Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking collection of monologues returns for its 23rd year. Funny, provocative and emotionally powerful, the production explores women’s experiences through a diverse range of voices and stories. Suggested for mature audiences only. The show is presented at the Roxy Regional Theatre’s temporary location due to upcoming construction of the Clarksville Performing Arts Center.
Clarksville Power of Words 4th Anniversary Celebration
- Where: Eggs Up Grill, 970 Tiny Town Road, Suite A–B
- When: Saturday, Jan. 17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.
- Cost: $20 for attendees; $15 for performing artists. VIP booths available for purchase.
- Details: Clarksville Power of Words celebrates its fourth anniversary with a special open-mic showcase featuring poets, singers, rappers, musicians, comedians, and spoken-word artists from across Middle Tennessee.
