Admission is free, but the event welcomes monetary or pet food/litter donations, which will be split between eight local rescue organizations.
The organizations that will be in attendance with decorated trunks and giving out free treats for pets and their people. Surfside Sips will be on site providing hot beverages. The Humane Society Re-Tail Store will also be open, and free candy, dog treats and catnip will be available in the lobby.
Last year’s event was attended by nearly 100 people and their pets and brought in over $1,000 in donations and hundreds of pounds of food and litter. The Humane Society will be matching all Spay It Forward donations (up to $1,000) collected now through the event. Donations will be used to provide free spay-neuter surgeries at the Humane Society’s low-cost spay-neuter clinic for participating rescues, which include: Finders Keepers Cat Rescue, Puurrrfect Paws Rescue, Mikaela’s Mutt Motel, Two Ladies Caring Dog Rescue, APSU Paws to Care, Saving Kittens Sanctuary, Cats MEOW TNR, and Montgomery Co. Friends of the Shelter.
Vetting and fixing adoptable animals is the single biggest expense for any rescue organization. Donations can be made using the Trunk or Treat Donation Challenge post pinned to the top of the Humane Society’s Facebook page, or by phone at 931-648-8042.
