Warm Souls Christmas helps close to 1,200 people in Clarksville | PHOTOS

CLARKSVILLE TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – For more than 15 years, Radical Mission Compassionate Ministries has brought the community together for their annual Warm Souls Christmas.
Organizers with Radical Mission said close to 1,200 people attended the free event this year at the Morgan University Center at Austin Peay State University.
The three-hour event hosted 300 families with a line people waiting to get in stretching the length of the university center, while volunteers made their way through the crowd passing out coffee and hot chocolate. As it has in years past, the event offered a family meal, family portraits, haircuts, gifts, toys, winter clothing, and more, all with the support of more than 300 volunteers.
About 900 meals were served, 500 children received toys, 200 family photos were taken and 140 people got haircuts. “It was a wonderful day of neighbors loving on neighbors. It was such a blessing to celebrate with our community. We are also so thankful for all of our incredible volunteers,” Jon Vaughn with Radical Mission said.
Latrice Dodson and her daughter Dala were in line to get into the event. “I absolutely love this. It’s filled with community values and a lot of people come out here and we share and have a good time. It’s full of grace and mercy, and it’s about Jesus,” Dodson said.
Dodson added she recently lost her job of five years and needed a little help this year.
Clarksville Transit System provided free bus transportation between APSU and the CTS transfer station downtown.
