Weekend top picks: Barks & Brews, Oktoberfest, Bankin Festival, college hockey

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Enjoy beer, music and more at one of the festivals, or spend time with the family at the Downtown Commons.
Barks & Brews: Guests can expect a variety of entertainment options for both humans and pets. Participate in contests such as Owner/Dog Lookalike or enter our newest contest the Pooch Plunge: Hot Dog Edition. Enter to win great prizes all day long, explore pet friendly vendors and local businesses, live DJ, and other fun activities. It’s all at 138 Center Pointe Drive on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Oktoberfest: Presented by The Star Spangled Brewing Co., the seventh annual Clarksville Oktoberfest will feature a live polka band all weekend, Oktoberfest beers, wines from the vineyard, tons of German foods and games, along with dancing and stein-holding competitions. It is free admission, Friday through Sunday, September 22-24 at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, 1100 Dunlop Lane.
Bankin Festival: Music festival to benefit Coalition for Cause woman and children charities. Featuring Still Moves, Shelton Slack, Walt Heggie Band, Jeremy Holt and the Tennessee Field Hands. With food trucks, an art show and more. Admission is $10, Saturday, September 23, at Run-a-Muck Outfitters, in Adams.
Vanderbilt vs. MTSU Hockey Game: Rivals Middle Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University will compete in the first College Hockey South game to be played at the F&M Bank Arena. Local non-profit organizations will be at the event. Cost of the event is free, Sunday, September 24 at 2 p.m.
Movie Night: Join in a family fun movie night under the stars with a showing of Encanto. Cost is free. The movie will begin around 7:30 p.m. at the Downtown Commons, 215 Legion Street.
