Weekend top picks: Christmas on the Cumberland, drone show, Turkeys For Troops

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This weekend, kick off the holiday season at the downtown Christmas market, listen to the sweet sounds of musical instruments, and, if you’re military, collect your free Thanksgiving turkey!

Christmas on the Cumberland: This year’s official lighting of the Christmas on the Cumberland holiday lights display features the city’s first drone show and a Holiday market. The lighting will be at 5 p.m., followed by the drone show at 6. The festive Holiday Market will be 2-8 p.m. with music and food, photos with Santa, a reindeer petting zoo, and ornament decorating station. It’s all at McGregor Park, 640 N. Riverside Drive on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Turkeys For Troops: Turkeys For Troops will be Saturday, Nov. 23, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until all of the turkeys are gone. Any household with a valid military ID – active duty, veteran or family member – can pick up their free frozen turkey and a 2-liter soda. The event will be at Ajax Distribution, 330 Warfield Blvd.

Winter Baroque Concert: The Gateway Chamber Orchestra 13th annual Winter Baroque Concert with performances by the Gateway Chorale and the Clarksville Children’s Chorus, showcasing JS Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 and Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Midnight Mass. The concert is at Madison Street United Methodist Church, 319 Madison St., on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 4 p.m.
