Weekend top picks: Spiritfest, Christmas Parade, 1860s Christmas

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This is the weekend for the big Christmas Parade, with a holiday festival downtown leading up to it.

Lighted Christmas Parade: The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County will jointly present the annual parade with floats and decorated vehicles, starting at Austin Peay State University and going through downtown. The parade starts at 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

Spiritfest: Leading up to the parade, at the Downtown Commons (215 Legion St.), there will be live music, Santa Claus, kids’ activities, and food trucks. At 4:30 p.m., County Mayor Wes Golden will light the Christmas tree. Warm up inside the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall (317 Franklin St.) with cookies and hot chocolate. Visit the First Presbyterian Church Chapel (213 Main St.) to take part in a live Nativity. It’s all free from 2-4:30 p.m.

1860s Tennessee Christmas: Enjoy activities and refreshments along with a candlelight service in the Wildwood Church and School at Historic Collinsville, 4711 Weakley Road, Southside, from 3-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Tickets are $15 for 6 and up, free for 0-5.
