Winter fun guide 2024: Expos, concerts, galas and movies coming up in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It may be cold outside, but there are still plenty of fun things to do around town!

Here are some of the upcoming events in Clarksville this winter, through the first day of spring, March 19. If you know of other events, email the information to news@clarksvillenow.com.

Ongoing 

Drive Thru Christmas Light Show

  • Where: Clarksville Speedway, 1600 Needmore Road.
  • When: Everyday until Jan. 1. Sunday-Thursdays 5:30-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday and holidays, 5:30-10 p.m.
  • Cost: Admission is $30 per carload (7 people or less).
  • Details: Start a new holiday tradition with your family while enjoying over one mile, and over three million lights, from the comfort of your car.

Christmas on the Cumberland

  • Where: McGregor Park, 640 N. Riverside Drive
  • When: Nov. 18-Jan. 2, from 5-10 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and 5-11 p.m. on Friday-Saturday.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Display of over 1 million lights. Lights may be off during rain and extreme weather.

Dec. 31

New Year’s Eve Party

  • Where: Downtown Commons, 215 Legion Street.
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 31 at 9 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: For the first time, Montgomery County will host a New Year’s Eve event. This family-friendly event will include singing, dancing, and food! A 10-piece live band, dance floor, and string lighting will be placed on the lawn under a clear tent. There will also be a photo-booth trailer, food trucks, lounge seating, outdoor fire pits, and a surprise ‘drop’ at midnight during the celebration.

Jan. 1

First Day Hike: Our Cultural Landscape

  • Where: Dunbar Cave State Park, 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road.
  • When: Monday, Jan. 1 at 9:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Celebrate the New Year while learning about the rich cultural history at Dunbar Cave. Join Ranger Adam for a 2.75-mile loop hike to discover how the landscape has been altered by the various cultures that have utilized it throughout the centuries. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water.

Jan. 4

DAC and Friends Exhibit Reception

  • Where: Downtown Artists Co-op, 96 Franklin Street.
  • When: Thursday, Jan. 4 from 5-8 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Downtown Artists Cooperative is proud to announce its January 2024 gallery exhibit “DAC & Friends.” This exhibit features artwork from the talented DAC Members alongside their very creative artist friends in a collaborative exhibition.

First Thursday Art Walk

  • Where: Franklin Street
  • When: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: See the art and meet the artists at various downtown businesses, headquartered at the Downtown Artists Co-Op.

Jan. 7

Epiphany Concert: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Parts I-III)

  • Where: Grace Lutheran Church, 2041 Madison Street.
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: An annual tradition to conclude the Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany seasons – this year featuring the first half of J. S. Bach’s monumental Christmas Oratorio. Bask in the warm sounds of Grace’s choir, soloists, and orchestra.

Jan. 19

Harlem Globetrotters 2024 World Tour

  • Where: F&M Bank Arena, 101 Main Street.
  • When: Friday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $42 plus.
  • Details: See the Globetrotter stars live as they dribble, spin, slam and dunk  their way past their relentless rivals, the Washington Generals. You’ll be amazed by new levels of mind-blowing trick shots, expert ball-handling skills, and big-laughs with unrivaled opportunities for pre-game, post-game, and in-game fan engagement.

Jan. 26-27

Hunting and Fishing Expo

  • Where: Wilma Rudolph Event Center, 1188 Cumberland Drive
  • When: Friday, Jan. 26, noon-7 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Cost: $5 admission, free to military and kids 16 and younger.
  • Details: 5 Star Media Groups big annual outdoor expo, with boats, RVs, hunting and fishing vendors, children’s activities, live animals, and more.

Jan. 28

Windborne Singers Concert

  • Where: Mabry Concert Hall, 780 Marion Street.
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m.
  • Cost: $25
  • Details: “The most exciting vocal group in a generation,” Windborne’s captivating show draws on the singers’ deep roots in traditions of vocal harmony, while the absolute uniqueness of their artistic approach brings old songs into the present. Known for the innovation of their arrangements, their harmonies are bold and anything but predictable.

Feb. 4

NXT Vengeance Day

  • Cost: Ticket prices vary on Ticketmaster.
  • Details: WWE, the world’s premier professional wrestling organization, presents a premium live event.

Romantic Serenade with Gateway Chamber Orchestra

  • Where: Mabry Concert Hall, 780 Marion Street.
  • When: Sunday, Feb. 4 at 4 p.m.
  • Cost: TBD.

American Cornhole Association Tournament

  • Where: APSU Dunn Center, 320 Drane Street.
  • When: Friday, Feb.9-10 from 8:30 a.m. until 11 p.m.
  • Cost: $40 plus.
  • Details: ACO Majors are the main cornhole tournaments of the Season, where all skill levels can play, with an opportunity for anyone to win. ACO members compete for World Ranking Points, and non-members can join in for various “play to play” Walk-Up Tournaments.

Feb. 10

Clarksville Cookie Crawl

  • Where: Wilma Rudolph Event Center
  • When: Saturday, Feb. 10, 2-5 p.m.
  • Cost: $20, for ages 8+
  • Details: Local cookie vendors offer samples, exclusive sales, and the chance to order personalized desserts. You’ll also cast votes for best cookie and enjoy a decorating station.

Feb. 13

Company Cabaret: Lovely, Lovely, Lovely

  • Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin Street.
  • When: Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $20
  • Details: Join the Roxy for a special night of music and entertainment, featuring their company of professional actors who come from all over the country. Musical selections will vary from musical theatre to contemporary music, classic standards to holiday tunes.

Sloshed-Speare: The Merchant of Venice

  • When: Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $5
  • Details: Join the Roxy while they entertain and educate audiences with a fresh and modern-ish take on the works of the literary lush himself, William Shakespeare. By incorporating an abridged Shakespeare play with some adult beverages thrown in, they’re spreading the word of the Bard in a fun, engaging, and entertaining way.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown

  • Where: Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin Street.
  • When: Thursday March 14-30 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: Tickets $35 (adults) and $15 (10 and under).
  • Details: Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts gang explore life’s great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes, and celebrate the joy of friendship. Based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip.
